Thanks Steve.... didn't work. Gives me a message "VLC is not responding". Since I'm not certain what this file really is, I'm gonna dump it and forget it. My morning search of my HD has turned up stuff I swear I've never seen. Many with dates 3 and 4 years old, about the time I got this computer new. Since this is a 1 TB drive and less than 1/3 full after all this time, I'll just leave that stuff alone and ignore it. Unless curiosity gets the best of me one of these days.
