I've never used SpinRite as I've never had a separate box for a PC (I've always just install Windows in via Bootcamp or used it in a VM), but it's considered the best in the business for what it does. That said, mention of that program has always left a sour taste in my mouth because a version for Macs has literally been promised for years, but never materialized. With the world moving to SSDs, it probably never will. The website also looks like a relic of the late 1990's and hasn't changed since it was created, but that's neither here nor there. :-)
