This is long overdue for Apple.

The death of desktop computer was greatly exaggerated. :)

News of the new Mac Pro was broken back in early April, when Apple invited several prominent Mac journalists to their headquarters to discuss it. You can read about the interview at the Daring Fireball website here.

New iMacs were announced at Apple's Worldwide Developer's Conference (WWDC) back on June 5, along with many other cool things. They are shipping now. Among the iMacs was also the iMac Pro, due in December, seen as sort of a stopgap for pro Mac customers waiting on the Mac Pro, or simply Mac users that want a high end iMac and don't need all the expandability that the upcoming Mac Pro will apparently provide.

Here is a summary page at Apple.com for the WWDC with all the new items announced:

You can watch the entire stream of the event if you want to as well.
