The Left needs a strategy, an argument, and a plan for what they’ll do if they win in 2018. Polls can be very deceiving and can turn on a dime. Many Democrats think Trump will hand over Congress and the Senate over to them in 2018 since he is currently very unpopular. That is a big mistake and is sure to backfire. The DNC needs to endorse single payer universal healthcare and take its argument to the American people. Failure to elaborate a progressive argument and strategy will result in disaster for the Party. Right now, the DNC is perceived as reactionary with no platform. Define yourself as progressive or suffer the consequences with even bigger losses in 2018 and 2020. In Nevada, a real progressive woman beat the Republican machine and won the most recent Senate seat. Another liberal populist, Jacky Rosen, is running for Senate against the incumbent right wing Senator, Dean Hecht, in 2018. Jacky won the house seat here in 2016 by affirming her progressive roots. She set up a dialogue and gave people a choice. The people want a clear choice among candidates to vote for.
