jim, I've been buying sub 1000 deskpros for months. I bot 2 more deskpro p200mmx's for 900+ last week and another 2 this week. the sub 1000 deskpro business pc has been here for a while for those that buy in real life and "not in theory only". those are sub 1000 catagory sub zero is the 500 and 799 pc's and will move to 500 and even 200 dollars in the future. the pc on the real low end is moving to the chip. the part of the pc industry that isn't looking bad is Directors of I/S are ordering lots of dells and cpqs and hp's./ that part is looking great. and cpq expects 50-60% of their 1998-9 biz to be servers where they make a killing. especially on tandems and loded 6000 and 7000 servers where we pay $400-700k for one server. tandems are more than that. I'm buying pc's and servers and the set up for two more plants now... two more plants.
