This forum has been most comforting today, as my RAIN took a 40% haircut, putting my net position about 25% in the red. So I will take the liberty of making a few observations and comments that are neither about nor directed to any one individual. Much satisfaction seems to have been delivered by today's price debacle in Rainforest Cafe. Yes, I know, it has less to do with the particular stock and much to do with the in-your-face arrogance and success of these two young Fools. Lot's of novice investors who may have listened to the radio and bought a stock took a severe loss today while those who "knew better" are basking in ephemeral superiority. Also noteworthy has been the discussion of those market pundits who have achieved success in recent years, almost by accident, that they just happened to be bullish during the greatest bull market of all time. Thus, their apparent wisdom and success is suspect and may be simply a matter of happenstance and not investment acumen. Ironically, the seer who is the subject of this thread and the object of much respect, albeit, worship, in these parts, has himself been correctly bullish and fully invested in this most excellent bull market, and, he has also made a stock recommendation (UTEK) that is substantially down. So is it a stock recommendation that went bad that we are criticizing here? How about personalities that just happen to be inadvertently bullish at the right time? Do the condemnations being posted here apply equally, or is one exempt by virtue of some special notoriety or consequence of imagined comradery? Or maybe, putting yourself on the line with market opinions and recommendations takes a special kind of intelligence, courage and expertise that is not so easily discredited by a single disappointing stock pick or market prognostication. As for me, I'm holding both UTEK and RAIN in my portfolio tonight, happy with the underlying fundamentals with both and confident of what will unfold in the fullness of time. Allan, King of France
