Welcome to Verizon's (OATH) Email Service :-)

<< Haven't seen this mentioned here yet. AOL is forcing their members to pay $4.99 a month to use their email service. >>

Verizon is forcing it. They are obviously finally starting to monetize their purchases of Yahoo and AOL they made a few years back and given Verizon's stock performance of late it is about time. Verizon was the Worst DJIA Stock Of 2017.

<< AOL has become very buggy and unstable. I mainly use it for email and occasionally the bookmarks. >>

Only time will tell but I suspect you'll see some rapid improvement in AOL mail (now Verizon/OATH's email operating on Verizon's servers (with AOLs). Verizon's email servers (used by Verizon FIOS which provides my Internet/Digital Phone/Entertainment packages have been exceptionally robust and reliable since I subscribed Verizon FIOS a decade ago.

At the end of May I received the following email from Verizon in each of my (7) Mozilla T-Bird and SeaMonkey Verizon.net email Inboxes (each used for different purposes for my wife and/or I) and that caused me some trepidation.

The changeover was supposed to be automatic and painless although each Inbox had to be changed individually. For some reason it wasn't and on a Sunday evening a Verizon support tech named Joshua had to patiently assist me in changing each Inbox one-by-one in a very multi-step routine. and it took 3 hours. I was mentally exhausted by the end of the single session. The good news is that I retain my Verizon.net addresses (and extensive folder management in T-Bird and Sea Monkey on multiple systems) at no charge above my FIOS service and inbound and outbound email flow has been flawless since I made the changeover about a month ago.

Good luck selecting a service should you elect to change, but if you can go month to month you might want to give paid AOL by Verizon a spin.

More on this here: mediapost.com

... but not up to date and not necessarily totally accurate. The whole OATH story is really just starting to unfold.
