Steve

Personally I think your right. What do you think the margin is on GXm? Wasn't the price $114 in lots of 1k? Margins of 50% sound right?

Steve,

RE:The 6x86MX.. it seems fairly obvious that this chip has either been discontinued or that production has been drastically cut.

Yes, clearly there has been some type of interruption in supply. I'm not going to speculate about the whos and whats, because it does us no good. It may have been temporarily discontinued, but Swearingen of Cyrix said they would be building them at TSMC. So maybe they are waiting for more respectably clocked parts from there. So what happened to the MX wafer capacity at IBM? That's the big question in my mind.

Steve,

You missed an important reason that 6x86MX volume has been drastically cut. The Foundry Agreement(i.e., the added capacity) expires at the end of 1997. I suspect that production has been diverted to the MediaGX and MediaGXm.

No doubt, Cyrix switched most of its wafer starts from 6x86MX to the MediaGX and MediaGXm. If Cyrix uses its current wafer capacity at IBM for MediaGX & MediaGXm's, I suspect that about 1.1 Million chips per quarter could be shipped. This should give National sufficient time to ramp-up its foundry for very high volume MediaGX, MediaGXm and 6x86MX shipments in 2Q98 calendar year quarter.
