Same kind of feature that Nextel has, which is push to talk type operation. YOu talk into the network and everyone listens. Good for things like police communciations where you are commanding a whole group and need everyone on like a conference call. Not of much use if your into secure private conversations on your personal cell phone.

Just read over the NSA stuff you referenced. Saw the movie "Conspiracy Theory" this weekend. This sounds like the covert ops portrayed in the movie. Seriously, secure mobile communications are a big concern for various branches of the government both federal and state. There should be a big market for this equipment. Remember that the original uses for CDMA were for secure communications ala Hedy Lamar.

Looks like this "dark project" area is about to come on stream as another profit center.
