Based on all the bleak info posted this nite and the ongoing Asian situation it looks like the DD makers will be in trouble through out '98 and RDRT will of course be sevrely impacted. I'm also led to believe that Toshiba and IBM will be leading GMR players and others including RDRT will find it difficult to compete. Given the cyclical nature of this sector, it is quite concieveable that the stock could sink to the old low's of 10 or even lower - particularly if RDRT lags in transition to production of cost effective GMR.

It seems that those who don't will eventually disappear.

Consequently, it's important that RDRT management plan accordingly and outline the direction/strategy they intend to take in conjunction with the earnings report scheduled for 1/21.

Should SEG, QNTM, and WDC end up as the surviving non-IBM DD makers, I'd like to be assured that RDRT will be able to successfully qualify as a major MR and GMR provider...and successfully compete against the Japanese competition during '98 and '99. Lean and mean!
CAN RDRT DO IT???

More bad news tomorrow morning (SEG!)... gonna be a long year!

regards,

FNS
