Cisco has had the Route Switch Module (RSM) inside the
Catalyst switch for some time now. Basically there is
a router module inside of a switch. When a traffic flow
is detected, the first packet goes through the router,
and then all subsequent traffic from the same source/dest pair
is then switched.

Craig, I thought you should know better. Layer 3 is where routing is done. A switch is a Layer 2 device... a bridge. Connecting seperate networks requires a router or at least _routing_.
