I believe in limit orders for the day, take partials. Very few of my buys occur at ask, or sells at bid. I might try the next day or so but I want in at a certain price, or forget it. The market always has candidates.

I found that I get stung when I use market orders. I prefer to use Ask price.

Loren, I use limit orders. I have to go to work before the market opens and I'm afraid of getting bit with a market order. I have chased stocks too, quite frustrating. I would really like to wait and watch opening action before placing trade.

Once a limit buy order went through and the intraday showed a lower price. I called eschwab and they said they would pull the tape. They responded by giving me the lower price. You really got to watch those guys!
