besides MS, what other firms and their representatives were at the presentation? In addition, what was your sense of their reaction to the presentation. The only time I noticed what might have been other analysts was after the main presentation, when Mory was cornered by 2 or 3 people (I listened in). This is when -- after they were inquiring why the stock had moved so much early in the morning -- he admitted to having spoken to another investor group earlier in the morning (and he then said what he did about book to bill and 4Q is met). Without name tags, I don't really know who these people were. The reaction to the main presentation was ho hum. Mory raced through it much to quick. The reaction to the break-out session was hard to guage. No one followed up on my questions, which suggests these people were not listening all that well. Think about it: I said "how is the relationship with UUNET" and Mory says "it is getting stronger." That suggested sales (switches) to me, but no one followed up (I should have, but did not). No one commented on the NT/ASND Williams combo (on what it might mean). No one commented on the New Jersey HQ for the new division (and what that might mean). Also, I really liked the comment that any increase in non-Japan Asia sales is pure gravy for 1998. Did anyone else seem to care? No. Frankly, you could tell that the analysts were missing. They could have helped, don't you think? Will this information move the stock? I don't know. I think the stock is already starting to reflect the fact that 4Q will be fine. I don't think the stock price reflects the current and down-the-road strength of switching yet. Gary Korn
