White Shoes...First of all thank you for starting such a great thread. I think we all appreciate all the work the volunteers are doing.

(Posts 101-150):You are correct, Daou Systems (DAOU) is very pricey. At nearly 50X 1998 projected earnings it's not a stock you want to "bet the farm on" in this "high priced" market.

I own a couple shares of this stock, and selected it for 10% of my portfolio in a stock picking contest with our Stock Club. This stock has been sitting on the fence for the past several months. It doesn't seem to know what direction it wants to go.

A good earnings report will no doubt send it higher, a bad report could make things bloody. Does anyone know where we can find out the date of the next earnings announcement?

I started a DAOU thread on SI several months ago, but for some reason there has been little interest. This is dissapointing.

I am interested to hear what others think of Daou...

By the way, the other tech stocks I picked for growth in 1998 are: Cisco Systems (CSCO); Dell Computer (DELL); Qwest Communications (QWST); and Compuware (CPWR).

Good luck to all. - Jim

WHITE SHOES/ALL...............................................

Are you interested in a company that had $130 mill in sales during their first year of sales in 1997 eps were $1.03. Rose from 10 to 80 split two for 1 was at $40 and couldn't supply anymore product due to capacity limits in it's 6,000 sq ft plant. And was only selling in the USA in 1997. Has since brought a 90,000 sq ft plant online and is now selling in the UK. UK sales of $1.9 mill in only the last 4 1/2 weeks of the 1st qtr. Just started to expand into Brazil, Argentina, Switzerland and S Korea. Also just completed a 2 million share buy back with 32mill shares outstanding. Expects to expand to about 15 new countries this year. Has another plant on target for yr 2000 in Ireland. Projected EPS for 1999 are $1.75...new products in the pipeline expected in 1999...

"Well the intro said to sell the company"...

In addition they were using contract employees in the 6,000 plant ...they are using their own employees in the new plants.at reduced cost. Have intl distributions set up with two major companies that are paying $30 mill in milestone fees to the company as they move into new countries...as well as a royalty fee vrs a one time milestone fee when they start to sell in China.

Most distribution agreements by country are done...Japan is one that is still up for negotiations..more income fee or royalty?? TBD

The company is VIVUS..(VVUS) ....due to initial plant size and limited
production ~1.6 mill units a qtr ...adv expenses in 1st qtr and major FUD about PFE's Viagra this stock has been driven down to $8 ...

Now if you believe that there's about 47 mill customers in the world that could use this product ...if PFE Viagara gets 60-70% of the market and Vivus plays second ...Coke vrs Pepsie..

Now why won't Pfe's Viagara get 100% ...Viagara only works on mild cases of impotence, should not be used by patients that are using other medications, like nitro, etc...etc. Viagara will only work on 50% or so of the impotent population..Vivus Muse will survive and get a good % of this large market and generate $200+ mill sales in 1999.

Vivus earnings in 1999 will meet or exceed $1.75. With additional products in 1999 and beyond..plant in Ireland in yr 2000...Your looking at a company that can get a pe multiple of 20+ ...$35 looking at 1999 eps...$80 into yr 2000.

1998 eps will be the clearer to project by the end of the 2nd qtr the Viagara vrs Muse sales mix will be defined. Eps for 1998 are projected
about .72 to .80 this year...could be higher if get a bigger slice of this growing market.

Food for thought...review the 10k, EPS projections, for those that are interested put in on your watch list and begin your own DD.

Good Luck....looking for a 4 banger or more
