Objective analysis of Patton vs his peers (e.g. Monty) showed Patton to be far kinder and gentler on his staff. His military opinions, though unorthodox and politically incorrect, have often been proven very insightful and correct. Ask yourself if Europe would not have been better off with Russians pushed out? I've read medical analysis of Patton's personality change over time that asserted he must have had brain injury due to multiple concussions from riding his jeep so forward in the front lines. This is not unlike what you see happening to NFL players with very similar behavioral patterns (e.g. rage and emotional instability)...a tragic end for a great man.
