<< Nonetheless, I keep watching for Craig to enlighten me. >>

I didn't know I was burdened with that task. <g>

I kind of figured that with you being in the industry maybe you could find me some little gem. Unforunately my two favorite plays (UNPH and CIEN) already sport billion dollar market caps, so I can't just buy $10,000 worth and go to the Bahamas. These won't rise like M$FT or C$CO did because they sport such high market caps to start out with. I keep wishing we would have a real bear market so I can pick up a lot of CIEN for cheap.

I am keeping my eye on APAT because they seem like a serious R&D company. It appears that they have been doing opto-electronics research for several years and aren't interested in hyping up their share price. Unfortunately obtaining info on APAT is very difficult so it's a wait and see stock. It definitely bears watching.
I also keep my eye on companies like ORTL, SDLI, OCLI, etc because they have small market caps so the potential is great. Unfortunately none of their stocks are doing much now. (OCLI had some impressive gains in their telecommunications business last Q). I also keep my eye on HLIT because they seem interesting for a LAN/MAN/CATV WDM play. This may prove fruitful in the future.
POCI has also garnered my attention but I wonder how much revenue can be generated by selling optical filters. Do you know the potential market size Tim?
GAEO is one I keep my eye on as well but they are not a pure play. They waste their time with medical endoscope stuff. They just made an interesting acquisition in the fiber field though. I would love to buy something like an IOC or Bookham when they go public but I'm sure they will trade for several hundred million or more on their first day.

I have to agree with your fine call on QWST. It looks like it is shaping up to be a winner.

Thanks for the thoughts, Tim. Generally, I share you enthusiasm for the telecom stocks.. I own QWST, of course, and I like LU, NT and NN.
I am concerned that too many other companies are going to get into CIEN's WDM business, so am getting cautious. To me, T and WCOM are currently overpriced -- but that might not stop them from getting more pricey :-) Will check out ALA and JDS.. Happy investing! Duane
