George, Now that everyone has had time to digest the news announcement and speculate on its ramifications, I feel a few key points that haven't been touched on, need to be considered:

FNET is, and will remain a private long distance company working from within the framework of a larger long distance company. Think about it.

FNET has laid down the initial infrastucture to key global coverage in preparation for its rollout and IPO. Nowhere do I read about any exclusive arrangements on either parties terms of engagement. Leaving FNET free to establish other key alliances or to establish their own private networks within the framework of larger spider-web. Just as WCOM itself did when building its empire off the likes of Wil-TEL. As Frank sees opportunities in non-competitive markets he can build or acquire his own infrastructure, adding value, service and strategic
reciprocal locations back to his backbone provider.

The one thing that struck me about the announcement was the phrasing of "letter of intent" This told me that there are still ongoing negotiations between these two. Coupled with the companies response that more will follow.

There is no doubt that this is a major step forward in the making of a future Global TELCO. One that bysteps all the entanglements of tariffs, while pairing with the most aggressive global telecommunications company known.

My hats off to Frank and his staff for a job well done.
