DX:
Are you telling me that CISCO business is tied heavily in the asian
market. I don't think so, I spoke with my contact at Merril Lynch and
they tell me that CISCO has the weakest dependency on the asian market
as compared to its competition, in fact less than 15% interest there.
So how is the asian problems going to devastate the CISCO Co? Most big name brokerage houses have CISCO as the TOP LEADER in this market sector, with credibility like that, how can one go wrong. I got a list of over 10 brokerage houses that recommand CISCO for a strong buy.
Yahoo quote service has CISCO recommanded by 25 brokerage houses for
a STRONG BUY, 9 MODERATE BUY, and a misely 2 HOLD, NO SELLS.
CISCO has a market capitalization of $54 billion dollars, 90% of all
networking equipment in the world practically are CISCO products. So
tell me where I went wrong.

I think the current selling going on now is just negative hype in the market due to the asian contagian and other Co's potential earnings. When this 24-48 hour bug wears off the market will be back to its bullish self. All the doom and despair naysayers please go away, you make my day very lousy.

China... been enjoying a yearly growth rate of more
than 50% for five years(93% last year). It has a $140B
reserve to back up its national projects for its infomation super highways. If CSCO
does not do(or ignores as you suggested) bussiness with this huge and fast growing
market, I really want to recommend everyone on this thread to avoid CSCO
ASAP.

DX, what makes you think CSCO is ignoring this market? IMHO CSCO has a lower % exposure to the asian market relative to it's competitors because CSCO "owns" so much of the market outside of Asia. Thus Asia represents a smaller percentage of CSCO's biz... Also, this being the case, Asian problems are likely to have a smaller downside effect on CSCO's numbers.

CSCO may live on its past glory(routers) and fall behind in new technologies like
backbone ATM switches(ASND just claims it is half year to one year ahead its
competitors on this technology).

Again, what makes you think CSCO is not developing new technolgies and new products? Of course ASND is going to say that have the lead, but rememeber StrataCom was building ATM switches and installing them in networks before Cascade was even a twinkle in someone's eye. Furthermore remember CSCO spent a health sum on StrataCom - I would therfore assume they are letting that group develop new products. It obviously wouldn't make any sense to do otherwise. So, I'm confused by your alarmist comments.

FOR EVERYONE ELSE - ESPECIALLY THE SHORTS. Either you all believe CSCO will pull back due to CSCO market issues or you believe that macro issues, such as Asia will cause this. If it's the later than I would argue that it's a market issue and not particular to this security. If this is your thinking then you should should point out your comments are directed not a CSCO, but at the market as a whole. If you however believe CSCO will pull back due to issues other than fluctuations in the market as a whole, then I for one would like to understand why you believe this.
