Q2 2017 Results - "We believe that we are getting closer to being able to deliver an all-phosphorescent emissive stack with the color, lifetime, and efficiencies that our customers need and want."

In reading this I'm wondering if the hint is: "we already have the answer"

I'm not worried that they haven't made some progress, but your quote doesn't make me feel fuzzy. It's little better than "We're still working on it." Even if all they had for their effort was failure, the elimination of any line of enquiry could be painted as reducing what was left to explore and thus getting them closer to success. What I've read about the Goldman assessment regarding progress with blue cheers me much more.

May be they waiting to sign the deal with Samsung first and the get blue added to the contract later?

Since Steve is a lawyer and lawyers typically choose their words typically, maybe, and just maybe, Steve is trying to encourage longs to wait for just a tad bit longer for the good news on blue.

This statement was part of the prepared remarks and sounded as bullish on blue as they have ever been. If this was from another company that I follow, I would likely interpret it as a nod and wink to investors that you could expect an announcement on blue within the short to medium term (say up to a year).

Unfortunately, this is where UDC's repeated inability to live up to their statements/forecasts hits their credibility. I simply dont trust their statements in the way that I would with Qualcomm or Apple. It is one reason why I have little issue with the guidance. I consider sandbagging to be a good thing. I want a very high probability that they will be able to hit or exceed their forecasts. Regain their credibility and investors will place more trust in statements about their projections for blue or OVJP.
