Today is the day. Yahoo will lose 20%.

The greatest bubble stock since presstek is going
down hard today. Time to break out the champagne.

Went long half my number of shares. This is to hedge my puts. Fortunately, I have to leave my computer for most of the day. If we have a big drop, I make money on my puts. If we go up I make money on my stock.

<< Why would the shorts cover? >>

I guess it depends on where you shorted. If you shorted 1,000 shares at $10 or $10,000 worth and FIBR went to 2 you made $8,000 or 80%. If FIBR was to go to zero it would probably take a while. These things don't happen overnight. The bulk of the gains have been made on the way down to 2. Trying to squeeze that extra couple of points is a little risky and not worth the hassle considering the heavy short interest and small float.

<< Or is it something else that is propelling the buying >>

A FIBR follower told me there are Lucent buyout rumors. What a crock. First of all what technology does FIBR have that Lucent would want? I find it hard to believe that FIBR would have better technology than Bell Labs and their hundred years of technological innovations.

But more importantly, if FIBR was going to be bought out by LU why would insiders have sold shares recently in the 2's?

It's all common sense my friend.

<< You are expecting the shorts to return? At what price? >>

I know I've been salivating at the chance to short FIBR again. I hope it can sneak it's way above $5 so I can get a hold of some shares. I will cover my YHOO short simply to short more of FIBR. That's how worthless I think that company is.

(BTW, congratulations on the rise in FIBR's price. I hope it works out well for you).
