Although All American Semiconductor Inc. is no longer partnering with Level
One, its relationship with Level One competitor Seeq Technology is taking
off, said George Papajohn, vice president of marketing at All American, San
Jose. "We've been participating in the communications-IC market for the
better part of two years," he said.

Niche communications-IC lines of the sort that Seeq provides are enabling
companies like All American to supply complementary products for boards,
according to Papajohn. In many cases, board designers have to use one of a
limited number of synergistic lines in concert with the communications ICs, he
said.

"We are looking for [communications ICs] to be 25% to 35% of All
American's business going forward," Papajohn added.

All American has seen sales of the Seeq line alone grow by 200% this year,
and it expects comparable growth next year. The distributor is also boosting
support for its communications-IC lines, which includes plans to double its
overall FAE force in 1998 and form design-center relationships in strategic
markets, Papajohn said.
