HI 3 Bar,

the USD/CAD has seen a huge sell off largely based on the weakening of crude prices and the idea that the Canadian tar sands are very high cost productions areas that are not considered viable at these crude prices.
...

However, the USD has been depreciating globally making other currencies more competitive, and Canada is a resource based economy....and commodity prices are heating back up

there are obviously some other reasons at play
