You are absolutely correct: My original post was mere speculation on my part (I thought I made that clear in the original post), and I also agree with you that it is Pfeiffer's job to do what is in the best interest of the company (Compaq), NOT what is in the best interest of Intel.

Having said that, however, and with a couple of years of retrospective perspective, I think it is clear that in 1995-1996, what he did was NOT in the best interest of Compaq, without regard to WHY he did it. Now, it is MY SPECULATION that he's doing the same thing again, and it is MY FURTHER SPECULATION (and nothing more) that he is doing it for the same reason, which I SPECULATE, is that he has a personal vendetta against Intel.

And if my speculation is wrong, so be it. It's not my intention to represent this as anything more than my personal speculation.
