Don't blame the programmers, though, Jim. They're just doing what they are asked to to. "Ship it!" is the battle cry of today's Product Manager.

Most likely some of the best software around will be found within the ranks of shareware, where the author often has the luxury of taking the time to do it right. (Assuming that a lot of shareware authors have a "day job" and aren't counting on income from the shareware.)

Please, Don't be so hard on those lowly programmers:

I used to be a good programmer writing crummy code

Anyway, I love those technical threads from all of you, and I am betting 2/3 and 1/3 of my worldly possessions on Intel and AMAT, respectively. ( By being on margin I am actually betting three times that much).
