On the "Signs of the Times" Consider these verses from Revelation 11:7-10: "Now when they [the two witnesses] have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them. Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. For three and a half days men from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth." Regardless of whom you believe the two witnesse to be, this passage gives us some insights into the "signs of the times." One of the requirements for this passage to be fulfilled is for "...men from every people, tribe, language and nation [to] gaze on their bodies...." This could not have happened prior to the time that satellite television broadcasts were possible. How else can "men from every people, tribe, language and nation" gaze on the bodies of the two dead witnesses within a three and a half day period but through television? Unlike any other time in history, it is now possible from a technological standpoint for this portion of Revelation to be fulfilled. One cautionary note, however. Just because the technology needed to fulfill these scriptures is available today, does not mean that the scriptures must necessarily be fulfilled anytime soon. After all, we will probably have television or perhaps even superior methods of displaying the bodies to "men from every people, tribe, language and nation" in the future. Nonetheless, it is exciting to know that the "mysteries" of Biblical prohecies are becoming unveiled to us as never before. In Christ, Tom
