James: No doubt that "...our civilization is closer to the edge of destruction than ever before." For sure it is one of the things that sets our generation apart from all prior generations - our ability to obliterate the world completely. It can be quite frightening. But here's the good news: the most important message from prophecy is not what will happen in the future, but the blessed assurance that God really, really is in control. By giving us prophecy, God is reassuring us that He is still the author of all things and that nothing happens but that He allows it. I find that fantastically reassuring.
