ERG:
I know the "poor" is inaccurate, (g), I suspect that the "old" is inappropriate (this market requires nerves of steel....a young man's game?), (bigger g) and your observations on this and other threads sure don't suggest anything but solid intelligence. The thing you are missing (thank goodness) is the "herd instinct", the comfort of knowing you are doing the "right thing" because everybody else is doing that same thing.
Never mind the welter of ugly news, and forget that MU doesn't make any money, and don't worry about all that 16 Mbit inventory that will become semi useless after the 64 Mbit cross-over (next month?), and maybe it's not important that the PE is in the next galaxy, or that the interest expenses are rising dramatically,....... the momentum boys see that big short position and are determined to attempt a squeeze. My view is "good luck this time boys, 'cause you're going to need it". The surviving shorts (few as they may be) are very battle-hardened veterans at this stage, and a run-up in this air plant is viewed by most of the fraternity as nothing but a delightful opportunity, especially given the the current bad news environment.
Keeping the nickname in mind, I personally believe it is now appropriate to increase one's short exposure a notch or two. This bubble has entered an orchard of thorn trees.
Best, Earlie
