Not good enough. Still gives them too much time to be corrupted. Term limits of 12 yrs total for Congress and Senate with NO pensions. That gives 2 terms in the Senate or 6 terms in the House of Representatives, or 3 terms in the House and 1 term in the Senate. We do not need or want "career politicians". It was never the intent of the Founders to have (un)professional politicians. Any more than 12 yrs leads to corruption, imho.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Both houses have incumbents holding their seats for decades. Both houses should have forced retirement at age 65 like corporations. Excludes President. I have a solution that includes Presidents. Everyone running for national office agrees to off themselves at the end of their term. It would dramatically reduce the pool of candidates but I believe there are enough people who love this country to govern it. Of course that is just a daydream of mine. Maybe the plot of a science fiction story.
