You can try downloading and running the free Malwarebytes 3.0 app for Mac. I don't know of any malware that sets your browser to auto launch, but it can't hurt to run it and it may find other malware lurking on your computer.

malwarebytes.com

It gives a 30-day free trial to the real-time protection mode (which is a paid subscription), but otherwise the program is free to use and you simply run it whenever you want even after the 30 days are up.

I would suggest the problem lies not with Firefox, but in Windows. There are programs, some free which will list all start up items and programs, and enable you to stop or kill any program. Apparently windows 10 also has a means to do so. google.ca

Maybe Josh has a favorite program he can recommend?

Excuse and disregard if the above has been mentioned before.
