All my systems have been upgraded to SSDs. For my Windows laptops, it seems several times faster compared to a disk drive.

I just bought a new Dell desktop with a new Toshiba 2T HD about 3 months ago and have a older (5 years?) Toshiba Yoga 2 laptop with its original Intel 250GB SSD. The SSD is clearly faster in every way, although since I am not a gamer and don't have massive databases on my computer, I may not be a good reviewer on this. However, bootup takes maybe 2-3 seconds with the SSD while the HD takes about 15-20 seconds (which is an enormous improvement over my previous HP/WDC desktop/HD). I expect newer SSDs will be even better. The databases that I do access also load much more quickly on the SSD, although, again, the Toshiba HD is far superior to the older WDC HD.

IMO
Most SSDs will be dramatically faster than any HD. They may not have the longevity but that's not a given either.

HDs these days are for massive data storage vs. SSD which are for increased performance. The only other reason to choose a HD vs SSD is that you simply can't afford the SSD.
