Looks like AVNT could now be shorted on earnings concren as well; but they could stuff/park their products somewhere and call it sold tomeet 34c target.

CDN/AVNT- Sounds like business is humming at CDN. Sounds a little suspicious though. 100% marketshare wins in 4q97. Having worked in technology before, my experience has been that salespeople rarely if ever notify senior management of lost deals. They usually hang on to the hope of unseating the contract winner for months. Thats what makes a great salesman; one that never gives up. Any word on who the AVNT contracts, fictitious or not, are suppose to be with? IMOO.

CSS,
>>>Cadence does not know of any place and route ... deal that it lost in the fourth quarter.>>>
I think what is means is they didn't lose any deals to the competition and they aren't aware of any competitive bidding. This seems to be a news release to point out the fraud in AVNT release saying they beat the competition when there wasn't any contest or competition between the two companies as alledged in the AVNT release.
Its pretty much a given that CDN would know if they were in competition for a contract.
