After learning the entire roster of the San Francisco police force would attend the Alt-Right rally on Saturday at Crissy Park with orders of zero-tolerance for violence or weapons, organizer Joey Gibson cancelled the rally.

It doesn’t seem safe," Joey Gibson said, "a lot of people’s lives are going to be in danger tomorrow,” he told a 'reporter' from the website Unite America First. Nazis and Alt-Right members simply don't feel safe when there are too many police officers present. Gibson in a Facebook Live post said that his group had been working with police and “decided that tomorrow really seems like a setup.” And not in the way Gibson had originally intended.

If the Alt-Right rally planned for Sunday in Berkeley is not cancelled, the San Francisco Police Department is prepared to lend a large number of their officers to the City of Berkeley to enforce zero-tolerance policies during the event.

Berkeley city officials have expressly banned weapons, sticks, projectiles and even soda cans from gatherings of more than 100 people within the city limits. Anyone caught with any of these prohibited items on Sunday will be arrested.

Anaheim police drew criticism last year after a violent Ku Klux Klan rally. Uniformed officers were nowhere to be found when Klansmen arrived in Pearson Park, and several people were stabbed during a series of brawls between Klan members and the public.
