Here are the latest five-day rainfall forecasts from the NHC and NOAA's Weather Prediction Center:

Middle/upper Texas coast: 15 to 25 inches, with isolated totals up to 40 inches
Deep South Texas and Texas Hill Country eastward to central and southwest Louisiana: 5 to 15 inches

Rainfall Outlook

Areas in red, purple, pink and white are in the highest threat for flooding rainfall from Harvey through the weekend. Some of this rain may linger into Thursday or beyond in some areas.

These peak rain totals are roughly the average yearly precipitation in Austin (34.29 inches) and Corpus Christi, Texas (31.73 inches). So, a year's worth of rain may fall in the span of a few days.

Rivers forecast to be above flood stage by the National Weather Service River Forecast Centers, as of Saturday, August 26, 2017. Locations in major flood are denoted by purple dots, moderate flood by red dots, and minor flood by orange dots. (NOAA/NWS)

I bought a house that is high enough to not have serious water problems. More rain to come. Major roads closed, streets and roads in low areas under water. Schools are going to be out all week. If you're not going to flood, you're okay if you don't have to get out and go anywhere.

Lots of private citizens with boats and big trucks are going out rescuing people in high water areas. God bless them.
