Rainforest Cafe Bd Boosts Buyback Plan To
2M Shrs From 1M

Dow Jones Newswires

MINNEAPOLIS -- Rainforest Cafe Inc. (RAIN) boosted its
share-buyback authorization to 2 million shares from 1 million, and withdrew
the registration statement for a proposed offering of $100 million of
convertible subordinated notes.

The moves came after Rainforest stock tumbled 40% Wednesday,
apparently in response to a warning by the tropical-theme restaurateur that
fourth quarter earnings would fall short of Wall Street expectations.

Under the buyback plan, Rainforest may purchase shares from time to time
via open market transactions, including option-writing transactions.

At Sept. 30, 1997, the company had 17.4 million shares outstanding.

The note offering, withdrawn due to "market conditions" according to a filing
with the Securites and Exchange Commission, was to have funded working
capital needs and general corporate purposes.
