During prior Congressional rows and gamesmanship about the federal debt ceiling I have read that interest rates go up. That is now hanging over our heads for the next few weeks until Congress does what everybody knows they will eventually do.

Meantime, the "safe haven" appeal of Treasuries in times of global geopolitical turmoil suggests that they would go up and interest rates down.

Which way this time?
