Humbly report, Jan, similar doubts and perceptions that the light can be harmful to the eyes was expressed when still camera manufacturers first introduced features that incorporate autofocusing on the area which the user's eye is looking at, such as in the Canon Elan IIE. (Same model, different name designation in Europe and Japan.)

Didn't take long for this particular model to become a Canon best seller. Works great, no reported problems what-so-ever.

I humbly believe the public may make the connection here, once VRD hits my local display counter.

As far as the military is concerned, speaking from experience, this will hardly be an issue there.

Just my 2› worth.
