I don't know all that much about east Asian cultures, but these articles suggest China has no trouble assimilating some number of Koreans.

My thoughts and observations here were based primarily on Korean and Chinese students who went to Stuyvesant High School, Bronx High School of Science and Brooklyn Tech. These are specialized gifted high schools and many of the students came from very sharp, affluent, high powered families. I had a few blue collar families and the ones I had basically owned Chinese Restaurants (take out), dry cleaning and grocery stores. Most of the parents were MDs, engineers, accountants, stock traders (Chinese) and they demanded excellence, in some cases, perfection.

The Cantonese here and Mandarin newer arrivals don't all get along.. The newer Mainland arrivals consider earlier arriving Cantos non Chinese largely as they do not speak Mandarin..
