All,, this is off the subject but inquiring minds need to know.

How does Intel intend to comply with the PC98 standard (a standard that Intel had a major role in drafting) now that they have decided to eliminate the L2 cache on some future chips. The requirement for L2 cache (256K min and 512K recommended - if I remember correctly) is one of standards of PC98 certification.

Nevertheless, I don't think AMD intends to eliminate the need for 3D capability on the video card. I think what it intends is more efficient burden sharing between CPU and card. We'll have to wait for some actual benchmarks to see how it works out.
