I don't think the Left loved Clinton. What they liked about Clinton was not having Bush/Reagan in power and the stock market boom. The ex Yippies/Hippies, Professional class tolerated Bill Clinton because of the huge stock market gains. Sure, The Blue Collar worker got screwed and the Democratic Party has to bring these two groups together into it's fold if it wants to regain control of the House/Senate/ President. At the moment, the DNC is a big nothing with a semi fascist platform.
