Stitch, this is extremely good news in terms of capacity adjustments in light of current HDD market situation. However, 9000 workers or even 5000 - must be a very big facility.

BTW, what's the unemployment rate in Malaysia? Are the official figures credible or too optimistic? Any other best guesses? Ovservations? Has the rate gone up in the last few months already? How about newspaper articles on lay-offs, firings, plant closures, etc. Maybe employment situation another sector to watch out for, in Malaysia and elsewhere.
