I haven't seen anything like Irma in my lifetime, but we do have amazing tools. Andrew, Hugo, Camille, etc. We never got to see those like we are observing Irma.

I'm hoping she taps into the cold, dry air over the eastern US and weakens approaching S Florida (record cold in the SE). I also hope the coming magnetic storms shifts the Atlantic ridge and shifts her track east (we'll know in the next day).

This is an incredible Rossby wave pattern for August.

US just had 30th coldest August in 123 years. We were just slightly colder than Aug 1910, which also had terrible fires out west.

Edit: I am having issues linking site, so I dropped the http://
