That's the speed of one switch, not the speed of the whole trade, from recognizing the opportunity to deciding to execute it, to sending out the order through the computer doing the HFT, to a wire or fiber to the switch, then the 85ns for the switching, then by wire or fiber or microwave to the network of the exchange, then across that exchanges network, then processing it on the exchange. I don't have any hard data on what the total would be but its not going to be nanoseconds.
