The total tax burden is what is relevant, not finding one tax, cutting it, promising to get rid of loopholes and then future Congresses putting the loopholes back in. It's this latter part that is unavoidable. Falling rates based on the promise to never pass loopholes never works. Since the US doesn't have enough revenue to pay for what we spend that is the only issue that's important. Creating long term debt is not good for the country or for American corporations.

Corporations own the Congressional committees that write loopholes in tax laws for them.
