A gem of a stock I would like to suggest that everyone take a look at is Polymedica(PM) on the Amex. Currently, trading at 10.50 off its high of 14.00. PM is a major player in the diabetic testing area and since diabetes is a condition that effects nearly 16 million people and with 650,000 new cases diagnosed each year, sadly it is in a real growth industry. PM provides diabetic testing people by mail to Medicare patients that are insulin dependent, through their subsidiary, Liberty Medical. When they bought Liberty Medical a little over a year ago, they had 20,000 clients. With an effective national TV campaign they are currently serving more than 60,000 clients and growing more rapid each month. The real kick for them with be in July, when non-insulin patients will be covered by Medicare for their testing needs. This will more than double the potential client base for PM.Currently PM is a not followed by the major brokerage houses but expect this to change in the near future. They report earning on January 21 and if last quarter is an indication expect blow-out results. Last Q they reported .12 vs, .07 with net revenue 17.6 million vs. 7.1 . Revenues for the six-months in fiscal 1998 EXCEEDED the $30.5 reported in the entire fiscal year 1997. They have a PE of about 16.
For those interested look up PM and the thread(The Stock for 1998) PolyMedica a Diabetic Supply Company.
