I agree with what you say, and I also think it is working to reduce the numbers of people who will attend a church and learn how to pray, etc. Increasing numbers of people won't even take the first step. In Germany, for example, baptisms and church attendance has fallen off so sharply in recent years, that church buildings are being bought and converted to mosques.

All of my family and my circle of Christian friends are alike in that we don't use the Bible that much to sustain our belief that there actually is a higher power(s) that stand ready to assist human beings when asked.
Our sustenance comes from prayer, sometimes fasting and prayer combined. Sometimes even withdrawing to some kind of spiritual retreat where everyday life doesn't intrude. But not so much the Bible.

You may have noticed that most world religions (maybe even all) promote fasting to accompany prayer in order to achieve maximum benefit.
It's kind of like an Excedrin that combines caffeine along with the analgesic. Stronger impact. They exacerbate each other.
