The cap cut happened in the fiscal year 1998 when the budget was almost balanced and after the Clinton tax increases.

It is true that military spending returned to somewhat normal numbers after Reagan left office, but that's only because Reagan was irresponsible. If he wanted more spending and he did, he had a moral obligation to raise taxes and pay for that spending and NOT cut taxes.

Here's military spending from 81-89

39,101
47,960
59,221
68,229
77,956
84,663
89,526
85,698
90,490

Undoing the horribly immoral and irresponsible policies of Reagan by cutting spending and raising revenue gave us balanced budgets. You're arguing that Reagan should get credit for not paying for what he spent and that somehow that should make sense. It doesn't.

Recall that Reagan thought he needed to catch up with the USSR, not bankrupt them and he was 100% wrong there also.

Inode, the only way the budget was balanced under Bill Clinton was on top of a bubble. That bubble burst, and so did the balanced budget.

Under Obama, the budget deficit never went below $350B/year, and even in his final year in office, the deficit ballooned to over $600B/year.

Ask yourself this. Why is no one bringing up deficits this year? That "racist" Trump is in office, so NOW would be the perfect time to pin the deficit on him, wouldn't it?

The answer should be obvious to anyone except liberals.
