re <<if North Korea vanished ... >>

you may be correct.

however am guessing that from kim's view it all depends on timing.

... should n.korea vanish tomorrow, suspect 60% of productive japan does a disappearing, and 100% of seoul does a fade to black, in such an event, japan and s.korea's problems would be 60% less than now. whatever side effects to china would be no worse than that caused by fukushima in sashimi. doubtful that kim would slow down his progress to absolute safety irrespective of sanctions.

... should n.korea vanish a bit later, suspect 100% of japan and s.korea tags along, and usa may find the problem that is los angeles gone as well. kim probably prefers to have the capability and capacity as quickly as possible, and does not see what stands in his way.

... n.korea is only a problem for china should n.korea be unable to make its enemies in war understand that wiping out n.korean cities by 70% so many years ago was not a good idea, and not arriving at a peace treaty to follow up w/ the armistice is not astute. suspect kim is more motivated than trump on whatever needs doing.

just guesses.

otoh, whether china buys or sells to n.korea most likely does not figure into the equation in beijing or anywhere else, from washington to moscow. another guess.

am wondering which entity would sell what to whom should the industrial capability / capacity be thinned in east asia in either of above two scenarios. any guesses?

suspect that for those w/ the wherewithal, must at least consider to rapidly accelerate program to build more quantum-linked, millimetre-precision, mirv-ed, decoyed, shielded, hypersonic-glide-vehicled, thermo-nuclear-tipped, off-road-mobile, air-launchable, submarine-launchable, high-speed train-launchable, and prospectively space-based intercontinental delivery systems.

the cheaper alternative for the sake of all would be to arrive at multilateral agreement to pre-position therm-nuclear land mines in each others cities and key facilities, and with quantum-coded triggering systems in all hands.

what do you think?

The surrounding region's puppy shelters (would Russia be the only safe place?)

would be overwhelmed.

Methinks ...... when you've been eating your best friends, after thrashing them to death, then end must be near. What could be left for you in life?
