The debt ceiling has no purpose. Previous generations raised it and no one knew. Then republicans turned it into something political and once that happened the only way to bring sanity back is to simply get rid of it.

Put another way, every expert in the world says republicans lied about the debt ceiling. I'm strongly in favor of banning parties that lie about issues like this.
