When he announced withdrawal from the Paris Accords, IN THE SAME SENTENCE he said he would begin bargaining on re-entry terms. He never repudiated it totally. He just said the Accords were unfair and said he looked forward to re-entering when changes were made. It seems clear that's what he intends to do eventually. Here's what he said: "The United States will withdraw from the Paris climate accord," Trump said June 1, 2017, "but begin negotiations to re-enter either the Paris accord or an entirely new transaction on terms that are fair to the United States." A month and a half after the announced withdrawal, he discussed it with France's Macron and said he would try to find a way to re-enter in a few months. [ Notice that 3 days ago China announced they intended to phase out internal combustion engines in coming decades. Never mind this won't happen. This statement is a movement on China's part that could be used to claim the Accords are now fairer to the US. And coincidentally just after this was announced, the Trump adm starts making noise about not leaving the Accords. ] Trump on Friday appeared to hold the door open to a change of position on the 2015 Paris climate change agreement which he pulled the US out of earlier this year. The accord, reached by nearly 200 countries in 2015, was meant to limit global warming to two degrees or less by 2100, mainly through pledges to cut carbon dioxide and other emissions from the burning of fossil fuels.
