Actually AMD-3D is also AMDs answer to Intels MMX-2. AMD just wanted to have something out before Intel.
Coordinate transformation of Triangles can be currently done with
the MMX. The added instructions in MMX-2 and AMD-3D probably can do more powerful matrix mathematics, thus its is a good idea that AMD
increased the speed of its FP Ops.
